Oak Hills Students persevere during Distance Learning to compete in NHD
|
With her Individual Exhibit on the Pentagon Papers, sophomore Allison Rodriquez returned to state competition for the third year in a row. Rodriquez was also our NHD club president. She was joined by fellow OHHS sophomore, Aeriauna Urbina who competed for her first time with an Individual Exhibit on Anne Frank. Freshman Madison Young competed in the county level as well with her Historical Paper on the Rodney King Riots. Due to the pandemic restrictions, the county and state competition was held virtually. Both Allison and Aeriauna's exhibits made it to the final round of state competition -- placing them both among the top projects in California. In her first-ever time competing in NHD, Aeriauna's exhibit on Anne Frank was selected for the Special Award on a Significant Person in History -- the first time an OHHS student won a state-level recognition.
